There are three basic types of tequila, classified by the aging process.

"Blanco": Also known as "silver", this is pure, double-distilled tequila with no aging.

"Reposado": Aged in oak barrels anywhere from two months to two years. At this point it takes on a light golden color.

"Anejo": aged anywhere from two years…up to as much as 25 years. The longer the aging process, the richer and more complex the flavor.
